On Friday, August 31, the United States blacklisted Iranian oil tanker Adrian Darya 1, following repeated warnings over its valuable oil cargo.

Previously known as Grace 1, the ship has been bouncing around the Mediterranean after being held for six weeks at Gibraltar on suspicion that its cargo was bound for Syria.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, made yesterday an unexpected visit to the G7 summit in France.

A White House official said France’s invitation to Zarif for talks on the sidelines of the gathering was a “surprise”. Zarif met his French counterpart to assess what conditions could lead to a de-escalation of tensions between Tehran and Washington, a French official said.

Iranian workers and defrauded investors held at least eight protests in various cities to demand their economic rights, according to reports gathered by Iran News Wire.

On Wednesday, defrauded creditors of the Shadi Gold Institution held a protest outside the Tehran Judiciary building to demand the return of their stolen savings. A video posted on social media showed the mainly female protesters chanting and asking for justice.

There were at least six protests held across Iran on Saturday by people from various subsections of the Iranian population, including defrauded car buyers, disabled people, and Iranian workers, in the cities of Tehran, Arak, Ahwaz and Rasht.

In the northern city of Rasht, a group of defrauded investors of the Adineh Complex gathered in the city’s prayer centre to demand the return of their stolen savings. They said that, despite the pre-sale of the complex, the construction was still not completed.

An Iranian oil tanker in the middle of a row between the United States and Iran is no longer headed towards Turkey, according to shipping data from Refinitiv Eikon on Monday, having changed its destination to Turkey over the weekend.

Initially, the ship, which is filled with US-sanctioned Iranian oil, was headed to Kalamata port in southern Greece, but Greece said it would not offer any facilities to the vessel in fear of what the US might do.

The United States warned Iran it is taking Tehran's threats seriously and will hold it accountable if it compromises the safety of any American citizen.

An Iranian journalist covering the Nordic trip of Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif fled the delegation and applied for asylum in Sweden, according to Swedish officials on Tuesday.

The Swedish Migration Agency reported that Amir-Tohid Fazel, an editor at Iran's ultra-conservative news agency Moj, "applied for a residence permit in Sweden on 21 August 2019", but didn’t provide any more details.
