London, 14 May - Iraq is currently facing many obstacles, including unemployment, ethnic conflict, and religious intolerance, but one important issue that needs to be immediately addressed is the extent of its illegal drug trade, and Iran's role in it.

The Saudi television channel al-Arabiya reported in April 2017, that Hezbollah, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and Iranian-linked elements of the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) were smuggling drugs from Afghanistan through Iran, Iraq, and Turkey to Europe. The report alleged further that Italian law enforcement agencies had dismantled a nine-member Iraqi PMF cell working as part of a wider operation headed by IRGC general Gholamreza Baghbani.

As the Iran threat increases, more and more leaders are agreeing on a number of issues and this is making the Iranian regime uneasy.

Ties between Iraq and Saudi Arabia are getting tighter and Iran is worried. The relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia have been tense for decades. The regional rivals are on opposing sides of most of the conflicts in the region and each one is outspoken about the other.

London, 04 Apr - As the Iraqi people prepare for the May election, many in the country are increasingly worried about Iran’s growing influence and fear that the mullahs may be trying to use this election to strengthen their political hold on Baghdad.

Iran had united with Baghdad's Shiite-led government to fight the so-called Islamic State, which is odd because Iran actually has close ties to the top-ranking ISIS members. But now that ISIS is almost gone, Iran’s interference in Iraq has become a divisive issue.

London, 12 Mar - A coalition of Iran-backed Shiite militias officially became part of the Iraqi military on Thursday, which places the US in a difficult position as it tries to prevent Iran from expanding its influence over Iraq.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi issued the ruling to induct the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF or Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi) into the Iraqi military and give them ranks and salaries, proportionate to other branches of the armed forces, just one day after receiving Iranian Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri for an official visit.
