Iran Focus: Paris, Apr. 21 – Iran’s Supreme Court upheld an execution sentence for a 38-year-old political prisoner from the western Iranian town of Boukan. Esmaeil Mohammadi was informed of the decision through a letter from the authorities, which indicated that his execution would be carried out within the next few days. Mohammadi, a father of five, has been imprisoned for the past two years in the city of Urumiya (northwest Iran), accused of being a supporter of the Kurdish Komala organisation.

AFP: An Iranian convicted of murdering a soldier during an armed robbery has been hanged in Saravan, in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan, Jam-e-Jam daily reported Thursday.
The man, identified only as Khodabakhsh M., had a record of carrying out armed robberies in the region, the report said without specifying if Wednesday's execution was carried out in public or in prison.

AFP: Iran on Thursday publicly hanged a serial bank robber who killed a policeman during a clash with security forces, the afternoon daily Kayhan reported.
Ghobad Siah-Mansour was found guilty of several armed bank robberies in the central city of Ispahan and was hanged in the neighbouring town of Najaf-Abad.

AP: The Bush administration accused Iran on Tuesday of violating the rights of Arabs and other minority groups and urged restraint in dealing with them. "It is not the first time that Iran has practiced this kind of human rights violations," spokesman Adam Ereli said of a recent crackdown against Arab protesters.

AFP: Eight students have been handed suspended prison terms for insulting President Mohammad Khatami and acting against Iran's national security, a leading reformist student union member said Tuesday. Iran Focus: Tehran, Apr. 13 - A father and his 17-year-old son will be executed by hanging on Saturday after being convicted of rape and theft, a state-run newspaper reported today. The execution of Mousa Ali-Mohammadi and his son Rasoul will take place at dawn on Saturday before which each will receive 74 lashes, the Iran daily wrote. Mousa Ali-Mohammadi is due
to be hanged in public, while his son will be simultaneously hanged in Isfahan prison.

AFP: Two Iranian men were hanged in prison on Monday in Yasooj, southwestern Iran, for murdering three people in a fight, Hambastegi daily reported Wednesday. Hatam Jarideh Kish, 38, and Ali Fath Hemati, 50, were convicted of killing two men and a woman in a village in Kohkilouyeh and
Boyerahmad provinces in summer 1997, the report said.
